Getting to La Selva Lodge

On the day of your departure, one of our representatives will meet you at the Quito Airport. If you wish to be picked up at your hotel, arrangements can be made (contact your sales agent to arrange a transfer, this service is not included in our rates). Our English-speaking airport representative will give you all of the documents you’ll need, including boarding passes. He or she will also help you check your luggage through. The maximum weight allowed is 20 kg (44 pounds) per passenger. Our representative will tell you a little about your trip and answer any questions you may have.

After a flight lasting approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at the town of Coca, where another La Selva Representative will be waiting for you.

Once at the dock, you’ll have a few minutes to use the restroom, get a cold drink, etc. while our representatives get your luggage onto the river canoe which will take you to La Selva. The river canoe travels for about two hours on the Napo River, a tributary of the Amazon. It’s a very scenic journey and you’ll want your cameras!

Once you reach our dock on the Napo, you’re almost there. There is a short walk through the jungle until we reach a wide creek. There, a smaller, hand paddled canoe will be waiting to take you across Garzacocha Lagoon to the Lodge. All in all, the journey from Quito to La Selva takes about four or five hours.

At the Lodge, you’ll be greeted by the manager and a welcome surprise. Your bags will be brought to your room, and your adventure will begin!
