Leading the way for eco-tourism in Ecuador

The Ecuadorian Amazon is a healthy ecosystem, but it is in constant threat from outside forces. Therefore, La Selva has made a promise to lead the way in sustainable tourism and ecoluxury by using available resources and ultimately paving the new path of luxury ecotourism. The following are the certifications we have earned from our practices.

The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organization that works around the globe in order to conserve forests and other natural resources while also advancing sustaingable livelihoods. Since 1987, the Rainforest Alliance has focused on transforming forestry, agriculture, and tourism, collaborating with foresters, farmers, businesses, and workers to build strong forests and healthy communities, protect habitats, and rebalance Earth.

After being reviewed and completing a thorough application, the world reknowned review site TripAdvisor awarded us the Gold Green Leader title. It is the highest achievable in their green hotel category.

  • No air conditioners

    No air conditioners

    They use too much gas to power the generators. Instead, we use a combination of fans and airy well-ventilated rooms to keep our guests cool.

  • Building materials

    Building materials

    The main lodge is built with iron and sustainable bamboo. The bamboo is a renewable resource that also provides jobs for the community.

  • Waste water system

    Water is filtered and cleaned before returning to the environment.

  • Local produce

    Local produce

    Whenever possible, we prepare meals with locally grown ingredients, benefiting the communities that produce them.

  • Local Employment

    Local Employment

    We provide many opportunities for the local community decreasing their need to hunt, fish or cut down trees to make a living. This results in a healthier jungle with more wildlife.

  • JR. Naturalist Program

    JR. Naturalist Program

    Our kids program stresses eco-friendly activities like learning to paddle a canoe, leaving no trace in the wilderness and interacting with the local communities to further protect the rainforest.
