Carbon Neutrality

We are now officially carbon neutral, certified by SICMA Ecuador and VERSA. This recognition reinforces our mission to preserve the Amazon Rainforest while delivering a luxurious adventure.

Our journey began in 2023 with efforts focused on reducing emissions through improved energy systems, responsible sourcing, and a commitment to reducing our carbon footprint by 15% annually.

Our actions and partnerships

Our program is characterized by the results achieved for the benefit of the community and care of the environment thanks to our partnerships with various organizations. The program is based on three areas of sustainable action; environment, community, and smart development.

Current Memberships

We are active members of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting ecotourism.

Their mission aligns closely with our commitment to sustainable tourism, conservation, and the well-being of local communities.

Our people growth

Collaborating with our people in community action is our daily work. Currently, we contribute to community development initiatives for the children of the surrounding communities and mainland Ecuador.

We have partnered with UNICEF Ecuador to fight against chronic child malnutrition and mitigate the consequences of this disease in the future.

Pack for a Purpose, another organization in charge of promoting access to education for children, is our ally in bringing school supplies to the school next to our lodge and thus, we contribute to the bright future of the children.

Own Initiatives

At La Selva through the Mandi Forest and Mandi Wasi Projects, we empower Pilche Community. These initiatives provide authentic rainforest tours and cultural experiences, driven by local youth and women, respectively. Your stay fosters gender equality and community development in the Amazon.

Moved by the sight of local children heading to school without proper footwear, we donated 75 pairs of rubber boots for their safety. We’ve also equipped the school with computers and a printer to enhance educational opportunities, reflecting our commitment to investing in the community’s future through knowledge and innovation.

Through innovative practices at the lodge, we have achieved significant savings. Advanced battery systems were implemented and we have reduced diesel consumption by 3,150 gallons per year and reduced the use of generators from 24 to 17 hours per day.

These measures significantly reduce tons of CO2 emissions and improve environmental quality for both our guests, community and wildlife. The savings from these initiatives are reinvested in community projects, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
